The Love & Foundation

IMG_6988IMG_6986IMG_6985

This is my love.
This is the foundation of a home devastated from Hurricane Katrina.
Driving up and down Highway 90 on the gulfcoast gives a a sense of revival and devastation.
Its peppered with foundations of grand homes. Seeing so many leave me in shock, and seeing all the new homes up expands my mind with the fact that Katrina had wiped out what had originally been there as well. This foundation looks right onto the ocean.
Its a beautiful view, with white sands.
I'll admit that the empty foundations leave a great place to capture a shot. But then again its so sad.
But no worries, the gulfcoast is really building up, and so far has been an amazing place to live.

"A woman who doesnt wear perfume has no future" - Paul Valery
I found that quote in the book; Sleeping with the Enemy: Coco Chanel's Secret War . For some reason it stuck out to me. Maybe because this month I have been looking for a new/part time signature scent or because I find the scent of people very.... interesting.
I really can remember people for their smell. If you dont have a smell.... then you really dont stick into my mind. There are times I will have major flashbacks of different smells.
Smells of love, hurt, family, excitement and heartbreak. I really cherish it all. I really have the worst memory, so scents really trigger something in my brain that brings things back to me.
My signature scent is Gucci Eau De Parfume II, my new "daily" scent is Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline. The whole "daily" kick for me is that I was thinking that my Gucci is for special occasions, because I find it a little pricey, but lo and behold I find a new scent and its not so um, cheap.
Whats your signature scent?

Throw it Together For Christmas

Booties: old Navy

There are times I just walk into my closet, not knowing what I want to wear, and I end up leaving the house with layers of clothing I FELT like wearing, but dont really flow.
I think it shows how I am feeling in a way. Totally all over the place.
But this was my Christmas outfit, and an outfit I'll end up looking back at over the years, because of Christmas photos. I'm proud that this year Im not just sitting in pajamas, and have day old makeup smeared half way down my face. (That will probably be next year again)
Well now that Christmas is over, are we ready to talk about New Years Resolutions? Or look back on goals we made last year, but didnt quite accomplish this year?
egh. :)

Merry Christmas

IMG_6931
Merry Christmas!!!
I hope you all had a wonderful day. Even through random breakdowns, burnt food, crazy family members, and sick kiddos.
Our Christmas this year was special. It being the first time the kids really understood what was happening. My son knew that santa was coming. It was a great bargaining chip all week to have him calm down while we were out and about. We all slept in, unwrapped presents, complained we were hungry, watch the guys play Risk, then headed out for a mexican dinner.
It was the first time going out for dinner on Christmas day, but I would love to start a new tradition with this. Because after Thanksgiving, I'm done with large dinners for the year.
So with Deep Fried Crunchy tacos, we celebrated this glorious day with friends and family.
**sigh**

(Im sooo ready for that tree to come down tomorrow)

Do you know the shuffle high heeled run?
Where you usually chasing after your children and hoping they dont fall into the indoor pond and Bass Pro Shops?
Yeah, that was me this week. Carrying all the random crap while I keep the kids from burning down the store, as my husband eyes turn all anime while floating around like a kid in a candy shop. All in all the trip was grand! The kids saw Santa Claus, decorated cookies and got to color Frosty the Snowman. PLus the hubs picked up his Christmas presents:)

My Beautiful Little Sister

So did you know I have a beautiful little sister?
A crazy and positive force in my life that gets me rolling the floor in laughter (while trying not to pee myself). Of course there are times I want to beat her in the face with a pillow, but thats what sisters are for right?
If I could describe her in one word: SPUNKY.
Me love you long time sister.
Sooooooo.....
She has a job, and has to look all cute ( I guess), but she was looking too cute and I had an idea up my butt. So I have her lug my big thrifted wingback chair down the driveway, and into the woods and demand that I take photos of her ( even though she was already late for work, sorry).
My first official photo shoot with her, in 3 minutes.
So please stop, stare and comment.

Mrs. Willy Wonka

Sweater: Dress Barn
Blouse: Dress Barn
Skirt: Homemade, thrifted fabric
Belt: Thrifted
Necklace: Thrifted
Tights: Express
Wedges: Shoedazzle
Apparently I'm on a Willy Wonka kick.
First thing my sister says to me is " Oh! Well Hullo Mrs. Willy Wonka!"
I LOVE IT HOMESLICE!
The colors are ROCKIN, I mean a little bright, and very FALL.
But for a trip to the library it was perfect.
Are you loving my kiddos in the background?

1. I cant get enough of the festive bookmarks they give away at the library.
2.  Doesnt Chloe look cute and adorable? Dont be fooled, thats a trouble face.
3. Everytime I walk by this Indian in the Cupboard display I have flashbacks of when I was reading it as a child. It had to have been one of my favorite books. Taking me into a different world, and making me believe that my figurines came to life.
4. That lettuce looks delish. I've got to be starving everytime I get to the library, and I stare at this painting and think of stealing it from those cute little bunnies.
5. My little man demanded a picture be taken. Then he gives me a mugshot. Great.
6. This little mouse needs to come home with me. He will sit next to my sink and read to me while I do my makeup.... and he can bring the indian from the cupboard with him.
7. Chloe being entertained then randomly beating on the keyboard. She is not getting the "gentle" meaning.
8. SCARY WITCH.
9. Bubba had me also take pictures of all the books he picked out. "This is cool mama!"
The library has been part of my life for the past 2 weeks. Dont know why it took me so long to actually search for it, but the drive is totally worth it. The kids load up on an obscene amount of books and stayed entertained for the majority of the day.
Does anyone else enjoy the "feel" of the library?

I'm a Lil Ole Lady

IMG_6612IMG_6611
Sweater: Dress Barn
Blouse: Thrifted
Skirt: Thrifted
Tights: target
Booties: Old Navy
Necklace: Thrifted
This outfit might not look like much, but for some reason I was totally digging it, then the hubs randomly comes home and catches me outside taking pictures, and he ACTUALLY says " You look hot, babe."
Now I'm all about ANY compliment I get from my hubs, but I was disturbed by the fact I looked like a lil ole lady.
So does that mean I will be rockin his boots when we are 80 years old?
Oh dear, heaven help me.

The All Week Upload Thrift Post

IMG_6743IMG_6742
All WEEK this post has taken me.
All the live long week.
Have you ever gotten so frustrated over something, that you just want to cry?
Lightroom and I have been battling all week with each other. It has simply refused to upload my pictures to Flickr for me, and now I have been left to doing it the old school way.
Bah-Humbug!
But on a happier note, how cute is that turkey?
Since Thanksgiving I have become obsessed with turkeys. I dont even care that the season is over for it, he is going to hang out in my kitchen and watch me clean dishes!
He (I should name him...) was waiting for me at Goodwill along with that rad 1957 piece of bowl?
My husband asked me why I purchased it.....
Um, because its old?
hehehehe.

On the Road Again

Right now we are on the road to Houma, Louisiana. About an hour south of New Orleans, just in case you were wondering.
This past week has been spent in the car. Already exhausted of the interstate. But many a good photos have been taken and memories created.
Also I have a crap load to blog about. But I'm having a problem with loading my lightroom 3 photos to Flickr.
So if anyone is adobe savy hit me up :)
Me love you long time!

Um, Mai Huzban Iz HOT

OK, So who knows my husband?
(You can stalk him via twitter: @runningcaveman)
You, you and maybe you.
Doesnt this picture look EXACTLY like him?
Damn my hubby is HOOOOOOTTTT. Love my little latin man.
Seriously the nose, eyes, neck and that freaken hat. But the 2 chicks? Egh, I dont think so.
Enough drooling, I stumbled across this photo over at Lime Ricki Swimwear, where in the midst of December, I'm already looking for my spring break swimsuit!

Shop Date Friday

shopping
Friday, and the first day of my husbands leave. Double yay!
How do we celebrate?
Get jiggy with some shopping of course.
Oh and eat Mexican & Pizza in the same day. Totally nutritous.
Sewing Store, Goodwill, Ulta, Marshalls, Ross, TjMax.
I think we spent 2 1/2 hours in Ulta, it was my first time walking in there and I nearly started crying with how elated I was. I started walking around aimlessly touching everthing, just cause I could. The hubs got lost in the cologne area, where he claims he now smells like a "whore".
I wont BLAB on what I scored **cough, urban decay book of shadows IV, cough** (c'mon I had a 20% coupon!).
Lets just say it was a great day to end CRAZY week!
How was your friday?

Willy Wonka Was A Noble Man

IMG_6593.jpgIMG_6596.jpgIMG_6597.jpg
Vest: Thrifted
Dress: Thrifted
Belt: Thrifted
Flats & Tights: Target

Yesterday my sister informed me that my velvet jacket was very "Willy Wonka".
Today I look in the mirror and think, that this outfit would do Willy Wonka proud. But whats wrong with Willy Wonka?
Nothing, he was a very noble, oh AND generous man.
A little ecentric, but I find it kinda sexy :)

Mexican Food Can be an Adventure

First off go and read this post "What do you do when no one is watching?"
Its probably the most orgasmic torture blogpost I've ever read. My heart was in zone 5 by the time I was done reading it, and I wanted to go for a run with my dog and 2 kids strapped to my back to feel like a bad ass.
Second, after reading I thought to my self, "egh, what have I done? Got bloated with Mexican food". So I posted, and felt pathetic for 2 minutes, then saw Audra's reply.
"Mexican food can be an adventure"
Of course in many ways it can be, but it actually was an adventure. I tried a new restaurant out with my 2 kids, ALONE.  AFTER taking them to the library. They ate all their food and then we stopped to stare at the beach.
For a stay-at-home mom that can be a pretty big adventure to accomplish with 2 kids.
I have to start looking at the bright side of things.
Now off to figure how I can strap 2 toddlers to my back.....

Pose for Me

IMG_6576.jpgIMG_6577.jpg
Jacket: Vintage
tank: Target
Skirt: Thrifted
Heels: Shoe Dazzle
Seriously dont ask what I was trying to accomplish with that second pose. There are many a time I look at photos Ive taken and I think " WHAT THE HECK?! , then I turn to whoever took the picture and put the blame on them, and yes, I get into confrontations with my tripod.
Do you notice who has been sneaking into my photos lately?
Yes, my little Bubba. We have been fighting for the spotlight. But I'm not a crazy mom and push him out of the photo.....
Not yet anyways :)
P.S The shoes are GORGEOUS but LETHAL! I nearly died 3  times in the 5 minutes I was wearing them.

Rihanna Called, She Wants Her Hair Back...

IMG_6563.jpg

Having a little girl time during naptime

Hair dye EVERYWHERE
For Thanksgiving we did the whole family at our house.
Grrrrrreat time.
EXCEPT for the comments. I mean c'mon they will be said, but still sit under your nerves and you want to break a plate against the wall but you dont, but end up instead freaking out about where the Christmas tree will be set up.
Want to know the comments?
"Rihanna called, she wants her hair back"
"You had SUCH pretty black hair"
Now I know I will get a message from someone, but really its ok. But at the time I was heated.
But amazingly everytime I've been out since then I've gotten compliments on the red, and I loved it. It was fun and way different. I would do it again at a later time. BUT I was again feeling change and was not liking how dead my hair was looking...
So I let my sister color my hair.
So VIOLA!
Back to black.
